RBI Academy Drill – Skater Drill

RBI Academy Coach Nick Kern is talking about the hitting drill called the Skater Drill.

This drill will help players stop pulling away and off the ball. We want our power to be directed up the middle rather than being too rotational.

Step 1:
Have the player set a ball up on a tee, out in front of the plate and get into an athletic and strong hitting position.

Step 2:
Get them to step backward and forward to start the Skater movement. It is important that our knees don’t go outside our feet as that is not a strong athletic position.

Step 3:
Perform the skater movement once or twice and then swing and hit the ball on the forward step. Focus on driving the ball up the middle and not pulling away from the ball.
