Anzac Day 2026 – Lest We Forget
What ANZAC Day Means to Australians
Australians commemorate ANZAC Day on 25 April each year. It marks the anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand soldiers at Gallipoli in 1915, during the First World War.
Today, ANZAC Day draws large crowds to dawn services across the country, with marches and commemorative ceremonies held in cities and local communities alike. It is a day that brings Australians together in reflection, gratitude and respect.
ANZAC Day is a time to recognise the more than 2 million men and women who have served our country in conflicts, wars and peacekeeping operations since 1914. It is also a time to honour the more than 103,000 Australians who have given their lives in service to our nation.
We pause to remember their courage, their sacrifice and the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy today because of them.
